PKSC 2200: Product/Package Design and Prototyping

This class is an overview of structural and graphic development tools for product and packaging design. We focused on digital creation, photo rendering, wide-format plotting/proofing, rapid prototyping, visualization and real-time 2d/3d design. This was a semester long design project.

INSPIRATION

Unsound was inspired by delicacy, stars, and moons, with simplicity as the center. the logo was inspired by a perfume bottle and an eclipse

HOW ITS MADE: THE PACKAGE

At Unsound, we believe in making our products and packaging as transparent as possible. this is why we've included a step by step on how the package is made on the site

SOLIDWORKS

the perfume bottle was created in solidworks. a final rendering shows what the materials are meant to be; glass for the body and aluminum for the cap and the star inside; both recyclable materials

ARTIOSCAD

the perfume box and inserts for the box were then created in artioscad. the dieline shows the cut and crease lines, and the final render shows how it comes together

ILLUSTRATOR

the dieline for the artioscad box was uploaded into illustrator, where graphics were then applied to it. the material is recycled kraft paperboard

CAPEPACK

the boxes were then palletized using capepack software. with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 perfume boxes per box, a pallet was created to maximize fit and therefore reduce transportation costs. we were able to fit 864 perfume bottles on it

PROTOTYPING

once finished, the bottle, box, and insert were all 3D printed at the Sonoco institute. the bottle was 3D printed using glow in the dark polymer, and the dieline for the box was printed and then folded.
